How to delete your data

Looking for website privacy information?

Introduction

Smudge ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Smudge is designed with privacy in mind. We collect the following information:

  • Analytics data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect basic usage data such as app opens, feature usage, and session duration to help us improve the app experience
  • Crash reports & performance data: We use Sentry to collect crash reports and performance metrics to identify and fix issues quickly
  • We do not collect personal identification information
  • We do not track your location

Data Storage

Your sketches and sketchbooks are stored in Apple's CloudKit service, provided you are signed in via iCloud on your device. This means your artwork syncs securely across your Apple devices using your iCloud account.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, your sketches will be stored locally on your device only.

Third-Party Services

Smudge uses the following third-party services:

Deleting your data

Save any artwork you want to keep before removing Smudge's data.

  • Data on your device. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage) > Smudge > Delete App. This removes the app and its locally stored data from that device. Offload App keeps documents and data, so it is not a data-deletion option. Repeat for any other devices with local copies.
  • Artwork stored in iCloud. Deleting the app does not delete its iCloud data. Open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Storage (or Manage Account Storage). Select Smudge, if listed, and follow the available option to delete its stored data. Menu names can vary. If you cannot find the option, contact us for help. See Apple's guidance on third-party app data in iCloud.
  • Backups and other copies. Any copies in device backups or saved outside Smudge are separate. Follow Apple's guidance on managing iCloud backups and remove other copies wherever you saved them.

Removing artwork does not automatically delete analytics or crash reports already sent to Firebase Analytics or Sentry. To request deletion of data we control, including support correspondence and any analytics or diagnostics that can be linked to you, email [email protected] with the subject Smudge data deletion request.

Describe the data you want removed. We may need limited information to locate relevant records; anonymous or aggregated records that cannot be linked to you may not be identifiable for deletion. Please do not send passwords, Apple Account credentials, or your artwork.

Children's Privacy

Smudge does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is designed to be safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

This website

This is a static information website. It has no accounts, email sign-up forms, analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party embeds. It does not request your sketches, contacts, location, or payment details, and it does not set tracking cookies.

The website host may process standard request information, such as an IP address and browser information, to deliver pages and maintain service security. This website does not use that information for advertising or behavioral profiling.

The app disclosures above apply to Smudge, not to analytics on this website. This website does not load Firebase Analytics or Sentry.

App Store buttons take you to Apple's website. Third-party privacy links take you to the respective service providers. Those websites have their own privacy policies. Email links open your email application; any message you send is shared with the developer and your email provider.
